What a weekend... Racing is a fickle business. Friday night them team raced close to home again at the Cedar Lake Speedway. Set on avenging last year's title for the event they started off qualifying a little off the pace. With a 'never give up attitude' Craig and the crew were able to battle back in the main event to look at top 5 finish, if only for a while. A chain of events then changed the out come rather quickly. The hot weather only added to the temperatures in the pits at the conclusion of the event. The next night at Beaver Dam Raceway, was a home coming of sorts. Back in the land of Karavan Trailers, and the James Boyd Memorial race. Jim was one of the greatest human beings ever, and to run a race in honor of him is a super way to remember him. Just knowing he might have been throwing down a cold one and overseeing the show at Beaver Dam Raceway made the drama of the previous night seem rather irrelevant. Again the team started past the inversion after a lack luster qualifying effort but they dug their heals in and came back strong in the second heat race, starting 5th and finishing 2nd. (Wow!) That in it's self would change the night for our team. Craig started 9th in the main event and truly had to pass ALL the good guys (all but one) to finish 2nd on Saturday night. He battled and gave it his all. I believe the crowd was pleased as the laps wound down in the end with Craig chasing Joey Saldana in a high to low line and Saldana pounding the cushion all the way around the racetrack. In the end, it was close but no cigar, as Joey won. Craig though, was precise and on his mark through traffic and even though the team came home one spot shy of victory it was still a beautiful thing to witness, and I'm pretty sure Jim Boyd was smiling!!
