Craig Dollansky and the Big Game Treestands #7 team continued their march east on Friday for the ‘Knight Before the Kings Royal’ at Eldora Speedway to open up one of the biggest weekends of the season.
A rock-solid field of 46 sprinters signed in for the first night of action at the blazing fast half-mile. When qualifying got underway, Dollansky was just a bit off the mark at 13.695 seconds which was 21st quickest. Missing the six car inversion for the heats started the Aggressive Hydraulics Maxim sixth in the first heat where Dollansky experienced motor problems and pulled to the infield. With a new powerplant under the hood, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ was back on the gas for the B-Main and finished 2nd to transfer to the main event.
The Karavan Trailers backed sprinter had its work cut out for the 30-lap A-Main starting towards the back of the pack in row eleven but wasted no time getting to work as Dollansky muscled past seven cars by the first caution on lap 2. When racing resumed, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ continued to stand on the loud-pedal and rim-ride around the ½-mile oval and crack the top-ten by lap 17 and move up to one more position by a caution on lap 27. The final three laps would see the Eaton’s Aeroquip Performance Products Maxim pick up one more position to finish 8th and earn KSE Hard Charger Award honors and move into a tie with Jason Sides for 5th in the World of Outlaws points standings.
One of the biggest events in sprint car racing each year awaits the Big Game Treestands #7 on Saturday as they return to Eldora Speedway for the 28th running of the $50,000-to-win King’s Royal.
