One of the biggest events of the season took place on Saturday for the Big Game Treestands #7 team as they returned to Silver Dollar Speedway for the 58th running of the Gold Cup Race of Champions as Craig Dollansky made his 25th appearance at the ¼-mile track.

The night got underway with time trials as Dollansky muscled the Aggressive Hydraulics sprinter around the bullring in 12.301 seconds, good enough for 3rd fastest among the 50 cars.  In the third heat race ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ started outside row two and finished 3rd to transfer into the dash.  An inversion of six for the 8-lap dash put the Karavan Trailers #7 fifth on the starting grid, the same position Dollansky would finish.

The initial drop of the green flag for the 40-lap A-Main wouldn’t last long as a caution yielded a complete restart.  The next start was a good one as the race stayed green until a stoppage on lap 19 when the Eaton’s Aeroquip Performance Products Maxim ran fifth.  After a couple cautions on the restart, Dollansky would race past Jac Haudenschild on the subsequent single-file restart to take fourth.  Racing continued until lap 30 when Trey Starks got together with Dollansky and brought out the caution.  The incident dropped the #7 to seventh momentarily until two cars racing at the front got together on the restart and Dollansky ran fifth.  The final ten laps saw the Big Game Treestands #7 maintain the 5th position as ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ raced under the checkered flags to record his 21st top-five finish of the season.

The Big Game Treestands #7 team now head to Antioch Speedway for the World of Outlaws inaugural appearance on Monday, September 12th.
