Merge a relatively silent sprint car world with three months of unseasonably warm temperatures and it’s easy to see how quickly the three-month offseason for the Big Game Treestands #7 team passed by. On Wednesday the intensity was back as the sprint car portion of the 41st Annual UNOH DIRTcar Nationals hit the stage for the first of two nights under the All Star Circuit of Champions banner.
The night got underway with a stellar field of 40-cars signed into the half-mile pit area. In qualifying ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ drew an early number and put down a solid lap aboard the Aggressive Hydraulics backed sprinter at 13.247 seconds, good enough for 8th fastest. With the top twenty-four cars inverted into four heats Dollansky started fifth in heat four and finished one spot shy of a transfer spot in 6th.
After transferring through the B-Main, the team of DJ Lindsey, Luke Dollansky, and Brian Shafer primed the car for the 30-lap main event. Starting from outside row seven, Dollansky advanced a couple positions before an early caution with just 4 laps down. When the green replaced the yellow, a long stretch of action saw the MobileStar Maxim crack the top-ten as most drivers ran the bottom, on what was still a narrow racing surface, and then assume the 8th spot by a lap 28 caution. Dollansky would maintain the position in the final two laps to record a decent finish aboard the Eaton’s Aeroquip Performance Products #7.
With the first night in the book, plenty of racing remains in Florida as the Big Game Treestands #7 team returns to action tonight for another night with the All Star Circuit of Champions followed by three shows to open the World of Outlaws season.
